What are Amplifier's Standard Shipping Containers?

Amplifier provides many kinds of packaging.  Our stock packaging typically include white bags, white StayFlats, and kraft corrugated boxes.  We also can support Custom Packaging. Our goal is to provide flexible solutions while striving to eliminate waste.  To this end, our platform performs volumetric analysis of each shipment and recommends the small appropriate shipping container.  We do this to avoid shipping excess air and to reduce your cost of materials. This said, certain item attributes may necessitate larger or more rigid packaging.

Clients may use Amplifier package types at the rates specified. Amplifier may change these packaging types at its discretion at any time, and Amplifier will manage the configuration logic of the WMS, which assigns packaging to each shipment.

Beginning September 1, 2016, Amplifier Packaging Pricing will be transitioned from "class-based" packaging pricing ("Box","Bag","Tube" etc.) to pricing by the actual Packaging consumed.

Important Notes

  • Amplifier controls packaging choices and reserves the right to change this table and our shipping container profiles. If we decide to change packaging options, we will update this table.

  • Based on your item's category and dimensions, Amplifier will select the best container. While we can't rule out the potential for damage in transit, we have years of experience working with carriers to deliver orders.
  • Because packaging adds weight to your shipments, we encourage you to slightly augment the item weights in your Ecommerce Cart to account for the additional shipping and handling cost.

  • You may use the Ship Weight of these packages plus the item weight of your products (in a ship-ready state) to estimate the freight weight of a given shipment. With freight weight, you can look up the freight cost of a given shipment to different zones. It is also important to take into account Dimensional Weight, which is why we also have included that info in this table. Estimating freight in advance of an actual shipment, which forces any particular shipment through the containerization logic of our WMS, is sometimes difficult. The best way to get a good estimate of freight weight and cost is to ship an actual sample shipment from Amplifier’s facility. Amplifier will invoice shipping activity based on actual costs and packaging. No estimate is a guarantee of such costs. Actuals will be invoiced.
  • “L+G” is an approach that some carriers use to measure the dimensional effect of a container.  It is calculated by adding together the Length + Girth of a package.  “Girth” is the distance around a container:  Width + Height + Width + Height.  Length + Girth can also be expressed as Length + 2 x (Width + Height).  DHLeCommerce Domestic begins charging dimensional weight when L+G is greater than 50 inches.

  • UPS and DHL International Mail calculate Dimensional Weight using formulas based on container volume.  UPS formulas are here.  DHLeCommerce International is here.
